Can I install the Aqua Logic™ myself?
The Aqua Logic™ is a large, multifunction, high voltage control system. For safety reasons, it is very important that the Aqua Logic™ be installed per NEC and local electrical codes. In addition, the Aqua Logic™ must be configured (programmed) to control the particular equipment on your pool. Goldline Controls® highly recommends that the Aqua Logic be installed by a licensed professional. To find a licensed professional, use the following links:

Which Aqua Logic™ model is right for my pool?
A Goldline Authorized Pool Builder or Dealer will be able to help you determine which model is best suited to control the equipment on your pool. The AQL-P-4 is the lowest cost entry level system has 4 high voltage relays (to control high voltage equipment such as pumps or lights), 3 valve actuators, and 1 heater. Wired in-house remotes and a wireless spaside remote are available for use with the "P-4" unit. Wireless wall-mount remotes and wireless table-top remotes are only available for the "PS-x" series. The "P-4" system can be used on a pool only system or on a pool/spa combination that share a single filter pump and filter.

The AQL-PS-4, AQL-PS -8, and AQL-PS-16 systems are usually used on pool/spa combination systems. They can be programmed to operate systems that share a single pump and filter or they can operate complete dual equipment. The last number in the model is the number of high voltage relays. All "PS-x" systems can control up to 2 conventional heaters (gas or heatpump) plus solar. The "PS-4" and "PS-8" systems also control up to 4 valve actuators (2 for pool/spa suction and return plus 2 additional for general purpose use). The "PS-16" controls up to 8 valve actuators. Goldline's complete line of wired and wireless remote display/keypads and the wireless spaside remote are available for all "PS-x" systems.

All Aqua Logic™ models are designed for easy upgrade to electronic (salt) chlorination.

Will the Aqua Logic™ control 2-speed filter pumps?
All Aqua Logic™ models can be configured to control 2-speed filter pumps. Unlike other pool automation controls, no special relays are required. However, the 2-speed filter pump will require the use of 2 of the Aqua Logic™'s high voltage relays. The installation manual contain complete instructions for configuring 2-speed pump operation and it is very important the instructions be followed in order to prevent damage to either the pump or control. Separate high speed and low speed time periods can be programmed and also the you can manually control the pump with a single button: Push once to turn the pump on in high speed mode, push again to switch to low speed (the pump must run a minimum of 3 minutes at high speed in order to properly prime), and finally push the button again to turn the filter pump off.

Does the Aqua Logic™ provide freeze protection?
The Aqua Logic™ can turn various outputs on when freezing temperatures are detected. This function is fully programmable including which outputs will turn on and also the temperature threshold. This freeze protection is normally adequate for area that experience infrequent freezing conditions with temperatures that don't dip to far below 32ºF (0ºC). For all other systems, the pools should be shut down per normal procedures for the winter.

How do I ensure my cleaner boost pump turns off when I switch to spa operation or manually turn off the filter pump?
This can easily be accomplished by enabling the "interlock" feature while configuring the control logic for the cleaner pump relay. "Interlock" will automatically turn the relay off when the filter pump is off; during the first 3 minutes of filter pump operation (while the filter pump is priming); during spa-only or spa spillover operation; and also for 3 mintues when the solar heating turns on (to prevent the air that is being purged from the solar panels to cause the cleaner pump to lose its prime). Once this function in programmed as part of the system configuration, you'll never have to worry again!

Can I have a remote display(s) inside my house?
Yes, all models are compatible with optional wired remote display/keypads designed to be mounted on a wall inside the house. Up to 3 of these remotes can be wired up to 500" away from the pool equipment pad. In addition, the "PS-x" models also have optional wireless wall-mount and wireless table-top display/keypads. The table-top unit has rechargable batteries that make it fully portable--it can be temporarily taken outside near the pool but it is not waterproof and must be protected from splashing and rain. All Aqua Logic™ display/keypads allow you to see the complete status of your pool/spa, program automatic features, or manually override any program with the simple press of a button.

Are there remote displays for poolside (spaside) use?
Yes, all models are compatible with optional wireless spaside remotes (AQL-SS-RF). These are remotes are designed to be left in the spa--they're waterproof and they float! You can manually control the filter pump, valves, lights and 2 auxiliary function from this remote.

In addition, the "PS-x" models also have optional wireless table top display/keypad with recharagable batteries that make it fully portable--it can be temporarily taken outside near the pool but it is not waterproof and must be protected from splashing and rain. The Aqua Logic™ table-top display/keypad allows you to see the complete status of your pool/spa, program automatic features, or manually override any program with the simple press of a button.

Is electric (salt) chlorination available with all Aqua Logic™ models?
Yes, all Aqua Logic™ models have the built-in electronics necessary --simply purchase the optional AQL-CL kit consisting of the Turbo Cell and flow switch and your Aqua Logic™ system will supply all of the chlorine needs for your pool (up to 40,000 gallons).

Can I chlorinate a pool larger than 40,000 gallons?
Yes, if your pool is larger than the rated 40,000 gallon capacity, additional Aqua Rite Electronic Chlorine Generators can be wired to the filter pump relay. Each Aqua Rite™ chlorinator will sanitize an additional 40,000 gallons. If you need help determining the gallons of your pool click here.

Does the Electronic Chlorination take up one of the output functions? How about the heater?
No and no. The high voltage outputs for controlling pool automation are in addition to the heater and chlorinator functions.

Can I control my pool heaters?
The AQL-P-4 model can control a single conventional heater (gas or heatpump). The AQL-PS-x models can all control up to 2 conventional heaters. All Aqua Logic™ systems can also be programmed to control a solar pool heating system in addition to the conventional heaters.

The Aqua Logic™ can be programmed for separate pool and spa temperatures for each heater. Also each heater can be programmed "OFF". A typical use for these feature might be a pool/spa combination system where the gas heater is used to rapidly heat the spa (the gas heater is programmed "OFF" for pool operation) while the heatpump is used to economically heat the pool (the heatpump is programmed "OFF" for spa operation). The Aqua Logic™ is designed with flexibility to allow you to control your pool/spa almost any way you can imagine.

The programable "heater cooldown" function will keep the filter pump running for a short period after the heater(s) turn on to allow the heater core to cool down to air temperature.

For pools that are being heated by heatpumps, the Aqua Logic™ can be programmed with the "heater extend" feature that will keep the filter pump running past its normal turn-off time if the pool is not up the desired temperature. This will keep the heatpump working as long as is required in order to heat the pool.

Will the Aqua Logic™ work with my solar pool heating system?
Yes, the Aqua Logic™ can control solar heating systems that utilize either a valve (you will need to purchase a valve actuator) or a booster pump. Individual temperature settings can be programmed for the pool and spa. In addition, the Aqua Logic™ can be configured with advanced solar control features such as "solar extend" that will keep the filter pump running at the end of the normal filtration time if solar heat is still available; and "solar priority" that will automatically disable the conventional heater(s) when solar is available in order to ensure that solar handles the majority of the heating load.

Where can I get a copy of the owner's manual?

How do I run this thing?
There are 5 different “Main Menus” to scroll through:
-Default Menu: Scrolls across the screen after the display is left dormant a few moments
-Settings Menu: Change temps or chlorination settings, time of day, ect.
-Timers Menu: Set all time clock settings for pumps lights or anything else programmed to “time clock”
-Diagnostic Menu: Check any issues with the salt system, or any other warning should be displayed here
-Configuration Menu: Sets the parameters for how the system is to function, pool only, pool and spa, pool/ spa standard/ dual, ect.
Pressing “MENU” cycles through each given main menu. Once the menu you are searching for is displayed, pressing the right and left arrows ( < & >) will toggle through that menus’ sub menus. Once you see the setting you are looking for, plus and minus (+ & -) will orchestrate any desired change. Pressing menu to exit will then save any changes that were made.

Can I activate multiple items with the push of a single button?
With 2.40 software revision and higher, you can select a “group” feature which allows multiple actions with a single button push program.

Why does the screen read “No Cell Power”?
No cell power is an indication that the unit is unable to detect the presence of the cell. Contact Technical Service for assistance 1-888-921-7665 (Monday-Friday 8am-8pmEST).

Why does the screen read “Communication Error”?
This means there has been a disruption in the transfer of information from the main PCB to the display(s). Deactivate all the breakers in the bottom of the control box and wait 5-10 seconds, then re-supply power to the control and check the display. If the problem has gone away the issue should have been cleared. If the problem persists, contact Technical Service for assistance 1-888-921-7665 (Monday-Friday 8am-8pmEST).

What does “Base Receiver Not Responding” or “Last Key Press Was Not Received” mean?
The wireless system for the AQ-LOGIC line is subject to interference from outside sources. You would need to change channels under the settings menu, 5 channels are available, you will need to re-teach all wireless units when the channel is changed. If changing channels does not solve the issue, the base receiver may need to be relocated closer to where the wireless unit will be used most often.

How do I “Teach” the wireless unit?
Step 1: Press menu till you see “Settings Menu”.
Step2: Press to the right till you see “Teach Wireless” and then press plus.
Step 3: At this point the screen on the main control will read “Press And Hold Wireless Button” – at this point grab the remote you’re attempting to “Teach” and hold any key, continue to hold the button till the screen reads “Teach Wireless Successful” or “Teach Wireless Completed”. At that point the wireless unit should control the system up to 400 feet line of sight and up to 100 feet through obstructions. Wire mesh (such as some fences, high levels of metal rebar, or perhaps other items using similar radio waves could effect the range of the wireless units.)
